While at my Mom's this weekend I noticed she had a roll of thick "paper towels" similar to the Viva ones I bought in the states a few weeks ago. I thought Hey! saves me a trip to the states if I can get them here! They are at Canadian Tire and call "shop towels" super thick and flat, no pattern. The only problem might be that they are blue so I don't know how much lint they would give off but for 2.39 I might try them....

I have sent an email to Kimberley Clark makers of a brand called Shop Towels and also to Canadian Tire to find out if these towels are safe to be used in direct contact with food If they answer me back I will let you know my findings.

I got an answer from Kimberly-Clark and it says: In response to your inquiry regarding the wipers provided to you by Kimberly-Clark , we are pleased to inform you that these wipers are appropriate for use in food processing and food preparation facilities for routine cleaning and wiping. Cleaning and wiping tasks include, but are not limited to, wiping, cleaning, and cleaning utensils and containers.
These wipers are NOT food packaging materials, nor are they intended for blotting meat and poultry or for any direct food contact use.
Let's see if Canadian Tire will be sending me a reply too....?

This is the answer from Canadian Tire to my request:
